Don't take it yet.
On each of the last two Black Fridays, the same annual plan sold for $239. That's $80 less for the exact same subscription.
We checked Coursera's pricing and offer pages on October 27, 2026, and pulled every Coursera Plus sale we could source back to 2022. Below is what that history says about Coursera Black Friday 2026, plus the cheaper option most deal pages skip. Related: Black Friday 2026: 15 stores ranked by real price drops.
When is Coursera's Black Friday sale in 2026?
Black Friday falls on Friday, November 27, 2026. Cyber Monday is November 30.
Coursera hasn't announced its 2026 dates yet. Past years give you a tight window, though:
- 2023: the annual discount ran through December 2.
- 2024: it ended December 2 at 11:59 PM UTC.
- 2025: it ended December 1.
So expect the annual deal to run into the first days of December.
The $1 first-month deal runs earlier and ends first. It ended November 24 in 2023 and 2025, and in 2024 it lasted only four days, November 21 to 24. If that's the deal you want, don't wait for Black Friday itself.
Coursera Plus sale history: every offer we could source
This is the table we couldn't find anywhere else. Every row links to its source at the bottom of the page.
| When | Offer | What the year cost you | Ended |
|---|---|---|---|
| Nov 2022 | 25% off ($100 off) | $299 | Not published |
| Nov 2023 | $100 off annual | $299 | Dec 2, 2023 |
| Nov 2023 | First month for $1 | $1, then monthly | Nov 24, 2023 |
| Sep 2024 | $120 off annual | $279 | Sep 30, 2024 |
| Nov 2024 | First month for $1 | $1, then monthly | Nov 24, 2024 |
| Nov 2024 | $160 off annual (40%) | $239 | Dec 2, 2024 |
| Dec 2024 to Jan 2025 | New Year: $200 off (50%) | $199 | Jan 2025 |
| Nov 2025 | First month for $1 | $1, then monthly | Nov 24, 2025 |
| Nov 2025 | 40% off annual | $239 | Dec 1, 2025 |
| Jul 2026 | 40% off annual | $239 | Jul 13, 2026 |
| Today (Oct 27, 2026) | 20% off annual | $319.20 | Dec 2, 2026 |
Three things jump out.
Black Friday got bigger. It went from $100 off in 2022 and 2023 to 40% off in 2024 and 2025.
$239 isn't a Black Friday price anymore. Coursera ran the same 40% off in July 2026. That's good news. It means 40% is a number Coursera is comfortable hitting.
The deepest cut we found wasn't Black Friday. It was the New Year sale at $200 off, which put a year at $199. If you miss November and Coursera repeats the pattern, late December is your next window.
What's live right now (checked October 27, 2026)
| Plan | List price | Current offer | What you pay | Offer ends |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Annual | $399/year | 20% off | $319.20 | Dec 2, 2026 |
| Monthly | $59/month | 40% off first 3 months | $35.40/month, then $59 | Feb 12, 2027 |
| Monthly | $59/month | 7-day free trial | $0 for 7 days | Ongoing |
Two catches before you click anything.
Coursera says discounted plans usually don't include the free trial. And only one discount applies per subscription, so a 20% plan today can't pick up a Black Friday discount later.
Is 20% off today a good deal?
No. Not when the same plan hit $239 three times in the past two years.
Here's the math. $319.20 today versus $239 if Black Friday repeats 2025. That's $80.20 for waiting about a month.
What if Coursera goes back to $100 off? It's happened before. In that case Black Friday would cost $299, which still beats today's $319.20.
And the worst case is mild. The 20% offer is listed as running until December 2, 2026. So if Black Friday disappoints, the fallback should still be there during Cyber Week.
The cheaper move most people miss: 40% off monthly
Most Coursera Black Friday pages push the annual plan. For a lot of learners it's the wrong plan.
The monthly plan is $59. Right now the first three months are 40% off, so you pay $35.40 a month, then $59 after that.
Here's your total cost at each finish line:
| You finish in | Monthly with today's offer | Annual at $239 (if Black Friday repeats) |
|---|---|---|
| 3 months | $106.20 | $239 |
| 4 months | $165.20 | $239 |
| 5 months | $224.20 | $239 |
| 6 months | $283.20 | $239 |
Under six months, monthly wins. At six months or more, the Black Friday annual plan wins.
So pick your finish line before you pick your plan.
One Professional Certificate you'll push through by spring? Go monthly now. Two or three certificates spread over a year? Wait for Black Friday.
One caution. Every Coursera Plus promo we found was limited to new subscribers. So assume you get one discount, not both. Pick the plan first, then the deal.
Should you take the $1 first month if it comes back?
Coursera ran a $1 first month in each of the last three Novembers. For a sprint, it's the best deal Coursera makes: a full month of access for a dollar.
The catch is eligibility. Every Coursera Plus promo we found was limited to new subscribers. If the $1 month turns you into an existing subscriber, you could be shut out of the 40% annual deal a few days later.
Our call: if you already know you want a full year, skip the $1 month and wait for the annual discount.
Does the Coursera Black Friday deal work in the UK?
It did last year. Coursera said its 2025 Black Friday discount was open to new subscribers worldwide.
Coursera also says most of its promotions run everywhere, but prices can differ by region because of currency and local tax. So UK learners should expect the same percentage off, not the same dollar figure.
Use this rule: compare percentages, not prices. 40% off is the number that has repeated, and it should apply to whatever your local list price is.
What Coursera Plus covers, and what it doesn't
Coursera describes Plus as access to more than 90% of its courses, Projects, Specializations and Professional Certificates. Its sales page puts the catalog at 10,000+ programs, and every course you finish comes with a certificate at no extra cost.
Degrees aren't on that list. If you're shopping for a degree, the Black Friday Coursera Plus deal doesn't help you.
Before you pay, open the course you actually want and make sure the page says it's included in Coursera Plus. That one check matters more than the discount.
How do refunds work on a Black Friday subscription?
The annual plan comes with a 14-day money-back guarantee. Request it within 14 days of paying.
Monthly works differently. Cancel partway through a month and you keep access until the period ends, but you don't get that month's money back.
That makes the annual plan the lower-risk Black Friday buy. You get two weeks to poke around the catalog and walk away for free.
What happens when it renews?
This is the line most deal pages leave out.
The discount covers your first year only. Coursera's September 2024 offer terms said the plan renews automatically at $399 a year plus tax unless you cancel. Check the renewal line in the 2026 terms at checkout.
So the real decision is $239 now, then $399 a year later if you forget. Put a reminder in your calendar 11 months out.
Is Coursera Plus worth $239?
Count your courses first.
Individual Coursera courses typically cost $49 to $79. At $239, Coursera Plus pays for itself somewhere between your third and fifth course.
Under three courses in a year, buy them one at a time. Over five, it isn't close. Related: Brevo Black Friday.
Is there a Coursera student discount?
Not a dedicated one. Coursera points students to financial aid instead, which you apply for on individual course pages. If you're approved, you get the course materials and the certificate.
If you only need one or two courses, apply for aid before you spend anything on Black Friday.

Written by the Shoptera Deals Desk, which tracks sale history and pricing pages for the stores we cover.
We read Coursera's Coursera Plus page, its current offers page, its Black Friday page and its terms of use on October 27, 2026. For past sales we used Coursera's own archived campaign pages where they exist, and dated deal reports from other publishers where they don't. We didn't buy a subscription for this piece, and no price here comes from a checkout test.
