xTool rates the P2S for 20mm clear acrylic and 18mm black walnut in a single pass. Glowforge publishes a maximum material height of 2in for the Pro HD but no single-pass cut depth. Ten extra watts is a 22% power margin, which turns into cleaner edges on 10mm acrylic and fewer second passes on dense hardwood.
xTool P2SxTool states 600 mm/s for the P2S; Glowforge states the Pro HD runs at 12x the Spark's top speed, and xTool puts Glowforge's CO2 line at about 141 mm/s (a competitor's claim, not a measurement). For a seller with orders, the P2S ceiling wins the round.
xTool P2SGlowforge's support page states Wi-Fi and internet connectivity are required, and the machine only prints from the Glowforge App. The P2S runs XCS over USB and also accepts LightBurn — if Glowforge ever changes its cloud terms, every Glowforge on earth changes with it; the P2S keeps printing from a laptop in a shed.
xTool P2SGlowforge's Proofgrade material carries a QR code, the camera reads it, and $150 of material in the Pro HD box means the first prints happen on day one. xTool ships XCS with presets for its own sheets, but no material in the box, and the first week on a P2S includes test grids.
Glowforge Pro HDBoth the standard P2S and the Glowforge Pro HD are Class 4 devices behind interlocked lids, so they're equals in the home. A Class 1 P2S variant exists, and xTool rates the P3 as Class 1 outright — the number only changes what a school or insurer will sign off.
