What to check before buying a phone at Coppel
That it works with your carrier
Check on the product page that the phone is unlocked and works with your carrier, especially if you want 5G. If in doubt, ask over chat before paying.
Real storage
Choose at least 128 GB. With 64 GB, the system and WhatsApp fill the memory quickly. If you keep videos or lots of photos, go for 256 GB.
Warranty
Phone warranties are usually given by the manufacturer. Check on the product page how long it lasts and how to claim it before paying. Exchanges because you “didn't like it” don't usually apply to phones, so choose carefully.
Price per storage tier
List prices don't always follow memory. In April and May 2026, the 512 GB S26 Ultra had a lower list price than the 256 GB, yet on sale the 256 GB came out cheaper. Always compare the final price of each version, not the discount.
What a phone really costs in quincenas
This is the point most worth understanding. In May 2026, the 512 GB Galaxy S26 Ultra was advertised at $26,899 cash or from $1,626 per quincena over 24 quincenas. Multiplied out, the total is about $39,000. You pay roughly 12,000 pesos more.

About $12,125 more on creditThe lesson applies in the mid-range too: a $300 payment per quincena looks small, but it means many months committed. A low payment makes the phone look cheaper than it is.
Before buying on credit, multiply the payment by the number of quincenas. If you have a bank card with interest-free months, that is usually the best option. We cover it in depth in our guide to what Coppel credit really costs.
Accessories, insurance and plans: where the extra money goes
The phone's price isn't the only thing you pay. At checkout you're often offered accessories, extended protection or a plan with your carrier. Some of it is worth it:
- Case and screen protector: they cost little and prevent the most common repair, a broken screen.
- Charger: several models no longer include one in the box. Check the product page so you're not surprised.
- Extended protection: read it calmly. Check what it covers (theft, accidental damage or only faults), the deductible and how much it adds to the total.
If you buy on credit, every accessory you add also earns interest. The cheapest route is to buy accessories separately, in cash.
Our quick recommendation
- If you want to spend the minimum: Galaxy A17 or Poco M8 5G.
- If you want the best balance: Motorola Edge 60 Pro.
- If you want an iPhone without overspending: iPhone 13, knowing it has fewer years of support ahead.
- If you want the best: Galaxy S26 Ultra or iPhone 17, ideally at Buen Fin.
